Junior Checklist                                      

  1. Take the PSAT in the fall. (This test is to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition) It can be very important.
  2. Create your Extracurricular Resume.
  3. Talk to college representatives when they visit our school. Check the guidance office for dates.
  4. Go to Local College Fairs.
  5. Get to know your high school counselor.
  6. Get to know your junior year teachers.
  7. Take/retake the ACT/SAT.
  8. Take challenging courses and pay attention to your grades. This year's academic record will go a long way toward either helping or hurting your chances of gaining admission to your schools of choice.
  9. Apply for National Honor Society if eligible.
  10. Research possible colleges and request information from them. Visit college campuses.
  11. Talk to students who attend the colleges you are interested in.
  12. Practice writing essays for your future college applications and turn them into your English teachers to proof read.
  13. Read, Read, Read!
